Timelines and what not?
What about time skips?
This is something that I've been mulling over for a few months. For everybody that is unable to draw meaning from that combination of words, let me help by explaining: a timeskip referees to a method of story telling where a period of time is skipped over to expidite a story's progression.
After all, if a two hour walk to the library is not all that relevant, then why include it? Simply going away to train in the mountains for a few months or years certainly doesn't need full coverage in a book. To do so would he long and boring.
That tends to be where the confusion happens when translating to collaboration sites like ours. Everybody, in general, operates on the same timeline. Skipping ahead a few hours or days? Negligible. Months or years? Planet's could be gone in that time frame.
I think it would be interesting to ask the writers of Genesis Project to have timelines for their characters. This is mainly. For convenience, and wouldn't be mandated. Rather, it would be for newer writers to explain their order of events and make sure things matched.up comparatively.
What are the community's thoughts on this?

Timeline's for character's?
Wouldn't journal be a good place to store that stuff, or even spoilers on their character files page?
Unless I've read this wrong >.>

Re: Timelines and what not?
I see your point Alexander. Skipping ahead days wouldn't be of any consequence, but if someone were talking about skipping ahead years, then things could very well get confusing.
I feel that we should all keep to only skipping days or hours. That way we don't all have to keep track of who has done what and when.

Re: Timelines and what not?
Well, of course. This is more or less a post where I've expressed a sentiment to encourage newer writers to post up and keep track of their characters. How they go about that is up to them, but the journal is definitely an avenue they can pursue.
In response to Leo, I am in agreement. As a community, we should generally keep our time skips to short spans.
