A company established in Crucis by Jake Giffen after he was named Consul, Alekhine Genetics was named for a famed Chess technique as it was touted by Jake as "the most powerful assault upon disease" of any of Radix's known miracle cures. In fact, it was the first such organization that did not require magic, instead focusing on individualized genetics to reprogram cells into performing new tasks or correcting faults in preexisting genetic conditions. It was complicated, and overlooked as it was far more expensive than merely using magic to solve problems. After all, magic was free and this required money to make use of.

The company, even though it does little business is still going strong and making absurd profit, yet nobody pays them enough mind to draw concern of their actions. Most of their profit comes from their secretive distribution of a supremely addictive drug named for the company, created using the same technology that they make use of in correcting genetic deficiencies.
