Unavoidable Suspicion
It didn't matter how much Kate has eaten. She could never get over how tasty human food was. While other people purchased cars or toys all of Kate's money went to food and her current location had lots of food though there was a draw back. North eastern America was very loud. Buildings touched the cloud tops and cars honked their way across the roads. It hurt her sensitive ears and she didn't plan on staying in this place for long. Their were other complications though. Kates skirts were all dirty which meant she was forced to where her cloak to hide her ears and tail. It drew a lot of attention to her and Kate didn't like it. The other issue was she was nearly out of money and needed more.
Walking into a casino Kate traded in her money for chips and headed to the roulette table. She placed all her chip on a single number and watched the spinner rotate. It had a hypnotizing effect the spinning did. The contraptions humans come up with where very amusing. Kate wasn't surprised when the ball landed on her number. Again Kate took all her chip which was a lot more than before and stuck it all on a different number. Again it landed on her number. The people around stood with their jaws to the floor. Kate cashed in her chips and left the building before she could get into trouble.
Looking around Kate found a shop called 'Pho dat' Kate quite liked pho and walked in before ordering a bowl of the delicious stuff. Kate sat at a table and waited. Every time someone walked in there was a bell that rung. Kate had come across these before however she could stop her ear from flinching. A small bump appeared on the hood of her cloak as her wolf ear spammed. Once the food arrived she didn't immediately eat it. She twirled it around with the provided chop sticks that she had learned to use long ago. She desperately wished she didn't have to eat alone, but Kate didn't have any friends in these parts. It was also very hard to make friends here. There were so many people that the people ignored the other people around them as if they weren't there. It made making friends very difficult. You would say 'hi' and they would say hi back but in a brushing you off manor. Kate didn't see why they just didn't say anything in return at all. Kate put her head down on the table. She didn't feel like eating anymore. She truly disliked this city. Definitely the worse she's ever been in.

Re: Unavoidable Suspicion
She had walked out of the Chinese restaurant somewhat dignified, as if she had done something rather remarkable. Behind her, the door closed rather suddenly causing her to jump slighty, as she turned to face the door and the sign once final time. "All You Can Eat," the sign read in bold neon lettering. It didn't shine too well in the daylight, but it was clearly visible through the window. Regaining her composure, she sighed. "Don't advertise it if you don't mean it..." she huffed, starting down the sidewalk as her stomach rumbled.
She glanced downwards, then back up, her purse on her side swaying as she walked. She was wearing long jeans and a black wife-beater, her short hair barely being ruffled in the wind. As she started down the sidewalk, she looked forward contemplatively. Sure, this was the Chinese side of town, but wasn't there a Vietnamese restaurant around here? Bobby was pretty certain there was, and at this point she wasn't going to give up until she found it. Bypassing a few other restaurants with lovely aromas, she ignored them in favor of her greater prize.
A few moments later, she was in the Pho shop, her nose savoring the scents her mouth would soon be tasting. In a few moments she had selected her seat, nearby a strange person wearing a white cloak. For a moment Bobby paused, not directly looking at her. She had heard about monsters on the other side of the world, but that was being dismissed as rumor. Still, there was something and it was making a lot of people uneasy. Maybe she was wearing cloak because she was nervous or worried about it? Who knew. She shook the thoughts away, moving on to the more relevant thing. She placed her order, and in just about ten minutes a whopping bowl of Pho was in front of her.
But not for long. She immediately set upon it, scarfing it down with all kinds of noises and sounds as her chopsticks became as lightning. She forgot herself and was completely lost to the bowl and the flavor within, her surroundings fading and now probably suffering for her mouth noises and general indecent behavior.

Re: Unavoidable Suspicion
Kate's ears where disturbed by the sound of someone eating rather noisily. She turned her head to see a woman scarfing down her food with much enthusiasm. Kate knew that in some Asian counties eating your food noisily was a sign of respect. However the women across from her was doing more than just that, she was also eating rather quickly. Though the noise was distracting Kate found herself interested. Her ignorance of the behavior around her or the simple decision to not conform told Kate that this women would be more susceptible to starting up a conversation. That or be irritated with what Kate was about to do.
Grabbing her bowl and chop sticks Kate got up and walked to the table the masculine female was sitting and sat across from her. "The flavor will not disappear any time soon. Eating slower would allow you to enjoy it for longer and its better for your digestion." Kate said to the girl before using her own chopstick to grab a clump of rice noddles and place it into her mouth before chewing. Her large red eyes would be very evident and most likely strike the women's attention. Red eyes were not a natural human eye color. Though Kate had a believable excuse. "I'm a large fan of werewolfs and have had surgery preformed to express my admiration for them." She would say if someone asked. It would explain her eyes and long canines as well as her ears and tail should anyone discover them which happened more often then Kate would like. Her ears would twitch whenever trying to identify a sound and her tail would sway back and forth whenever she got excited. Explaining how these move on their own was much more difficult. Thankfully Kate was careful enough that her secret "surgery" parts were rarely discovered. Her explanation was she had string connected so that her tails and ears moved automatically and the reason they were warm was because they had heat pads meant to make them seem as realistic as possible. This explanation though often made people think she was a grade A weirdo, but again such discoveries rarely happened.
"You don't look famished so would I be safe to assume this is one of your favorite foods?" Kate asked the women.

Re: Unavoidable Suspicion
As Bobby scarfed down her bowl of food, she heard what sounded like the clink of a bowl against the table. Another bowl? Really? Her growing excitement was stifled when a chair scooted out, and she lowered her bowl to peer over it's edge at... a girl with red eyes, and her own eyes widened as she stopped slurping long enough to hear the woman speak. She gulped what was in her mouth, and replied, "M-my digestion?" What an uncomfortable subject!
She withdrew he hands from her bowl and placed them on her stomach, half glaring and half panicked. "D-don't talk to me about my stomach! It's weird." Still, Bobby's attention was on the big, red eyes. But she didn't want to ask about them right now. Her digestive system was far more important at the moment, and as she moved her hands steadily from her belly back to her bowl she stared cautiously at the woman as she ate, unsure of what to make of her.
Then, she spoke again, and Bobby was slightly more angry than distressed. It seemed that she was implying that Bobby was fat in a catty manner, but given the circumstance of the situation Bobby was not so sure. "Y-yeah," she replied nervously, still staring at the eyes. "I eat here whenever I'm in the area, if other places aren't an option."

The women gulped down her food as if suddenly replying to the girl was more important than the food she was eating. She gave a dumbfounded look and stuttered a rhetorical question before placing her hands on her stomach. "D-don't talk to me about my stomach! It's weird." she said. Kate raised an eyebrow at this. Humans never ceased to amuse her. Kate hypothesized that the avoidance of people in this city has caused people to be socially inexperienced. Of course it could be Kate's robed appearance that was off setting the conversation.
Kate noticed that not once had the women adverted her eyes. It was obvious that Kate's own eyes were holding her attention. Kate didn't feel like explain now in consideration of the girl comfort. Kate also did not plan to further explain the digestion thing which had clearly been taken in a way it was not intended. She didn't want to spoil the appetite of the women or any eaves droppers, an action Kate found people did far less than herself.
"Y-yeah," the women had replied to Kate's question. "I eat here whenever I'm in the area, if other places aren't an option." "I don't have a favorite place to eat. I travel too much for that. Though I find greasy fast food to be appalling. Unfortunately for me that seems to be the most common choice of food when eating out. My names Kate by the way. Mind if I ask your own?" Kate asked hoping to relieve the discomfort with some information about herself.

Re: Unavoidable Suspicion
Was this conversation... even happen? It was already so tense and awkward. Not that Bobby was one to judge on odd appearances (a girl named Bobby?) but there was a difference between outlandish and just... off. That was only one of a mountain of things to consider here. The personal intrusion was a concern, the ease of how she was approached was as well. All things in review and the situation was actually a little more than uncomfortable. Bobby simply wasn't a natural speaker. She was an active person, sure, but not a very outgoing one.
And now this? Red eyes and health advice? What the actual hell? Still, Bobby wasn't angry, just mildly offended. Right now she was going to check herself too, because she didn't want to get kicked out of her favorite restaurant because she caused a scene. The temptation was intense, and she was seriously fighting back an urge to break down and start shouting angrily. At least, she felt this way until the red-eyed woman started to speak again. Come to think of it, would it be wise to yell at the red-eyed woman? Thoughts for later, it seemed.
"My name...?" Bobby never liked introducing herself to people. Her name made her feel awkward, and it wasn't exactly making her feel more comfortable in this situation either. "Mae," she stated her last name. "Excuse me, but what are you doing?"

Re: Unavoidable Suspicion
Kate had been on this earth for countless years. She has learned to detect lies as well as perfectly execute them. Body language aside Kate could almost always tell a lie by the sound alone thanks to her sensitive wolf ears. Mae as she called herself was not a very good liar. "If you didn't want to reveal your name you could have just said so. I can see I am disturbing you, my apologies." Kate said before grabbing her bowl and walking to the front counter. Kate knew she could just leave it and it would be picked up later, however leaving it at "Mae's" counter could be awkward for the insecure women. Kate had only eaten about half the bowl but suddenly lost her appetite. She wanted to get out of the wretched city right now and so she walked out of the building, onto the street.
Kate didn't move anywhere though. She rested against the side of the building before sighing and dropping to the ground. This city was so big she didn't know how to get out. Normally she could follow her nose but the fumes from the many cars overwhelmed the other scents in the air. Asking the people that walked by for direction didn't work. They ignored her as if they didn't believe she was talking to them. It seemed in this day an age the only people you could ask for help are your own friends. Kate blamed it on cell phones and other personalized forms of communication. Kate refused to get one for herself in objection, however her resolve was wavering.

Re: Unavoidable Suspicion
Bobby sighed, somehow feeling the victim and the guilty party all in the same moment. "I did tell you my name though..." she said to herself in a semi-angry tone of voice. And, she had. Her name was Bobby Mae, and she'd given the part of her name that she was more comfortable with. Her surname. It was how she always introduced herself to people to avoid them asking about her first name. It wasn't a lie, it just left out the inconvenience bit of truth. An omission by all accounts, and one that she made commonly enough.
Suddenly Bobby's appetite was gone, and she huffed. "Damn it, why does everything have to be so awkward?" She simply stood up from her table and left her bowl, still not all the way eaten, and cast a disgusted glance at it. Right now just looking at Pho was a pain in the ass, and as she tossed her money on the table and left heaved a sigh. This ridiculous... first that lady intrudes, and then gets offended at how badly Bobby handled the awkward situation? Ridiculous! How did that even make sense?
She left from the building, walking right past Kate without even looking at her, or acknowledging her, a confused and semi-bitter look on her face. She didn't know she had passed Kate to be honest, thought the white cloak should have been an indicator. She, like many other human beings, was lost in her own world.

Re: Unavoidable Suspicion
Kate had asked a question and Mae knew the question was asking for her first name but gave her last name instead. Couple that with her unease with the situation and one could see why Kate detected it as a lie. As Kate had gotten up with her bowl to move to the counter Mae said she had not lied which meant the name she had given must have been her middle or last name either way Kate knew it wasn't her first.
Fast forward to out side the shop, Kate saw Mae exit the building. When Kate had left the girl still had more noodle soup left. Either she finished her Pho quickly or lost her appetite. If the latter was the case then Kate felt a little guilty and believed it to be her fault. When a new wolf joins the pack it changes its behavior to fit it in and in time it become less of an act. In the same way Kate ridiculed herself for presuming that because one person had a unique personality they were not apart of the pack. Though there are exception one can never know for sure.
Kate really wanted out of this city and though she didn't want to disturb Mae more Kate felt as if she would be the only one to hear Kate's plea even if its only because she would recognize the voice that had disturbed her day only a short while ago. "Excuse me Mae, I mean not to bother you more but could please tell me how I might leave this city? I have never been here before and do not know my way around." Actually Kate had been here a few times in the past but in the most recent visit the only buildings that existed were made of wood. It was completely unrecognizable from that previous visit.

Re: Unavoidable Suspicion
As she walked she heard a familiar voice reach out to her, and turned around in response to see whom was speaking. Sure enough, it was the woman in the cloak from before, her red eyes still lingering underneath that hood. Bobby really didn't want to speak with this woman any more, but she was being awful polite about it. Maybe, just maybe Bobby should deny her answers. It would be very fulfilling, maybe. A little sweet, sweet satisfaction. But, no. Bobby sighed, rubbed her head, and responded honestly.
"To be frank, I'm not really sure." Bobby didn't leave the city often. She knew it wasn't impossible, but it wasn't as though the city just turned into a forest at some point. It just turned into other, smaller cities for miles like most major cities tended to do. She hadn't left the city since she was much younger, when she first moved here. While she was an urban explorer, she never thought about leaving it. "I guess... just follow one of the roads? Maybe you can take a cab, or something. Do you know where you're going?"

Re: Unavoidable Suspicion
Kate was disappointing with the fruitless answer. It seemed this city was so large even the residents did not know their way around. Kate could not understand how people could tolerate living in this city. She supposed it was just a way of life for them. It seemed like a miserable one to Kate though. In the past even those with little food were well off. They had many friends and lived in tight nit communities. They sure complained a lot less than the people in this city.
Mae suggested following a single road however Kate did not think that would work well. The city was like a maze with forks and turns where ever you go. Combine that with the sheer size and it would take forever for Kate to find a way out. Though time was rarely a factor in Kate's life it was right now. Rarely did anything bother Kate so much she could not tolerate it, but this was one of those things.
Mae also suggested a cab. Kate supposed she should give that a try. Mae then asked if she knew where she was going. "No, I don't know the area at all. Though I wish to find a city quieter than this one. Do you have any suggestions?" Kate asked not meaning to take up more of the girls time however she could provide information that would hasten Kate's journey. Kate would have liked to become friends with the girl. She seemed like an interesting person.

Re: Unavoidable Suspicion
How did the woman not know the area at all? Was she visiting? Did somebody just drop her off in the middle of the city and drive away? Something felt really off, but now Bobby felt bad. Not sorry to Kate, but sorrowful for her. It had to be harsh to have no idea where you were at, didn't it? And this question was actually very frustrating to Bobby, since Bobby was an urban explorer. She'd been all over the city, and while she could easily guide Kate to practically any location in the town there was no way she could effectively lead her out of it.
The city's layout of course, like most large cities, was fairly simply to navigate. A block system to conserve space, the buildings were usually clustered in between roads with long, straight streets cutting them neatly into a grid. So, of course Bobby could follow them. If she couldn't, then really this problem would frankly be a lot more common than just this instance. Though the block system seemed simple to Bobby it was merely because she knew the street names and intersections, and the way to go to get to them.
She did however know of the cities outside of this one, though it would easily take an hour from here by cab to get them, considering traffic and all. Likely she wouldn't even realize she'd crossed into a different city, and then just be stuck there and repeat the problem. How did she make it all the way here? Did she fall out of an airplane or something? Bobby placed her hand upon her head and pulled at her hair, visibly tormented. Yeah, Bobby was a loner but she wasn't heartless. This woman was lost. She didn't know the area as she had said herself, and sending her to a different area probably wouldn't fix the problem since she didn't even know what the nearby cities were.
Talking out in the street like this wasn't going to solve anything. It was too hot, there was too many people, and this was too urgent, There was an alternative, even if Bobby was put-off by the thought of it. Bobby's apartment wasn't far from the area, hence why she'd bothered walking here. Without seemingly calm and definitely with frustration dripping from her tongue she spoke at Kate again. "Well, you won't find a quiet city near here..." these were the first words to flop out of her mouth. Like a fish out of the water, they flailed at her feet and she looked at them, visibly disgusted with her own unhelpful answer.
"Do you have to be somewhere?" A stupid question. Of course she didn't-- that's why she was still here. That's why she wasn't going somewhere specific. "I mean-- look, I-I'm bad at this." The hand on her head fled to her face and hide it from sight, pulling at her checks as it slipped down her nose, chin, and finally fell to the side. A sigh. "My apartment is a few blocks away." Quick and painless. Hopefully the implication was enough.

Re: Unavoidable Suspicion
Kate was not pleased with the news no nearby cities were much quieter than this one. It was amazing how much could change after traveling over seas. Maybe Kate would be forced to travel over seas again just to get away. No that wasn't an option. Kate had not been in this land for quite some time and wanted to have a look around. A few pesky cities were not going to interfere with that desire. Kate could see Mae wasn't pleased with the helpfulness of her information. Kate would have found out eventually when she arrived there and it mattered not when she found out, however Kate was glad she learned from Mae. The conversation was much different from their previous one and in a good way. This brightened Kate's mood.
Mae resumed talking asking if Kate had somewhere to be. She was about to reply when Mae expressed the fact that she was having a hard time communicating whatever it was she was going to say. Instead of giving up though she pressed on and for this Kate silently praised her. Kate found that many people now days weren't willing to try something if it is hard. Mae said her apartment was not far though she said it quicker than then her other comments. Kate wondered if this girl thought this implied invitation was difficult to say because she felt Kate would feel awkward. "Thank you." Kate replied before standing up. "Getting off the streets may clear my head." From here Kate would normally strike up a conversation to get to know them better but she assumed in this particular case that would not go very well, so she chose to stay silent.

Re: Unavoidable Suspicion
Bobby sighed, the awkwardness of the situation diffused. Kate understood what she was trying to relay, and relief swept over her face. Thank god that was over, and Bobby didn't have to explain it. It was still strange, but now it was strange on her terms. Inviting a stranger into her home was ill-advised but she didn't seem dangerous. And she hadn't invited herself. Bobby had invited her quite clearly. The threat was minimal-- at least, that was what she would tell herself. And it is what she kept telling herself all the way to her apartment building, in between glances to confirm that Kate was still following her.
Even moving up the external stairs on the side of the building, it was what she told herself. She opened the plain, white door with the press of a button, only to reveal another white door behind it. She fumbled in her purse for a few minutes before revealing her keys, selecting a seemingly innocuous, plain sliver key and shoving it into the door-knob. With a click it turned over, the door opening to her apartment.
Stepping into it from the outside was like being taken to a whole other world. While the outside was bright, noisy, and full of strange smells the interior of the apartment was much less so. It wasn't dark per say, as the windows were certainly open to allow for light but the painting of the room were darker colors. Dark purples and blues in the living room, a lime green leading into the hall, colors that collided and clashed in an awkward manner spread through the apartment as though the person painting had no idea what they were doing.
It was fairly quite inside as well, the din from the external world called to whispers within the walls as the door shut behind them, with only the occasional horn honk in the distance, and once every few hours maybe a siren. The whole apartment smelled of fresh paint and woman's deodorizer-- an upgrade from the smell of garbage, gasoline, and the masses that traveled through the outside world. The furniture wasn't so fancy, or new. It was all simple decor, and even the small flat screen television looked used.
To the left of the door was a small dining room table with but a single chair moved outward from it. A few letters sat opened on the table, all of them reading "Bobby J. Mae". She sat her purse down next to them, and pardoned herself. "I'll be right back," she stated before heading down the hall, and towards the restroom. Maybe she shouldn't have eaten that Pho so fast after all.

Like a pack of wolves guarded their territory so too did humans guard their houses. It is what they considered their territory. They felt safe in their home and normally did not tolerate mistreating it. They even decorated it making interesting to look at. Kate understood the significance of this gesture. She certainly wouldn't let just anyone enter her own territory, thought Kate did not actually have any territory as of right now. She didn't plan on claiming any either. Partly because it was hard to find nice forests now days and not all pleasing forests were suitable for Kate. The rain forests in south america would be one such example. The aroma is grand and the prey plentiful, but the but the plants grew too densely. Moving around was a hassle when she visited there, at least in her true form.
Mae's residence was not what she had expected. The strong odor was expected but the coloring of the walls and the objects within them wasn't very orthodox. Kate thought Mae might have a unique taste in art. She herself would chose territory based on the appeal to her and not what she thought others would enjoy. Though her philosophy was changing. Now days she would likely chose something based on what she thought other would enjoy so that they would stay longer and come over more often, which meant a forest was probably a bad choice. She use to be content with the company of other wolves but now days she finds humans far more entertaining.
Mae excused herself leaving Kate alone. Kate noticed the letters on the table that revealed Mae's first name. Kate could see now why she preferred using her last name and Kate would continue to refer to her in the manner she wants. Kate herself did not have a last name. Maybe she should come up with one.
Normally when entering a privet area like this Kate would cast off her cloak or whatever clothing were restricting her ears and tail, however normally Kate was alone in these situations. Being her though made her antsy to give her ears and tail some air. Her tail could probably use some grooming as well. As much as Kate wanted to she could not reveal such things. Her werewolf excuse only worked if people receive a glance. Her tail and ears often moved on instincts. It wouldn't take long for someone to realize they aren't being moved by strings. It was easier to keep said instincts under control when she is in character so to speak, but staying in character when they aren't hidden is impossible for Kate. Telling a select few people the truth that she was a goddess wouldn't work well either for a variety of reasons. Nobody would believe her anyways unless she showed them her true form something she was not going to do as her true form was bigger than any land animal, add to that the fact that she is a wolf and even the greatly foolish would be afraid.
While Mae was occupied Kate went to sit on the couch facing the TV while she waited for her to return. Kate thought TVs were a wonderful invention. She could watch people all day long on them, though she could not interact with them. Kate did not understand however why people would watch TV when there are other people around in the house Kate did not know, it made no sense.

Barely a couple of minutes had passed, and Bobby had returned from the restroom. She looked at her new guest, who sat on the couch somewhat awkwardly, having failed to remove her cloak, or even her shoes. Bobby didn't really want to question it, but she was not versed in social etiquette. Maybe she needed too? She had seen shows where people offer to take coats, but they were primarily the upper crust of society, or at least middle class. Bobby was middle class... right? Right. Of course she was.
"I can take your coat for you," she stated. She almost asked it like a question, but didn't want to sound fancy, Instead, she felt she sounded rude and quickly tried to compensate. "If you'd like, I mean." With a catastrophe hopefully averted, she added, "and you can leave your shoes by the door too."
Now at this point, Bobby wasn't sure of how to proceed. She just sort of awkwardly looked at her guest for a moment, before looking towards the TV and back to her. "Do you... want to watch anything?"

Re: Unavoidable Suspicion
Mae returned from the bathroom and saw her guest sitting on the couch. She offered to take Kate's coat/cloak. "I am use to a warmer climate than this so I would like to keep it on." Kate responded with one of the many lies she could use. Normally she didn't need to wear her cloak though, it was just a last resort. Her other cloths were being washed by some guy she payed to do it at the laundry mat. She did not feel like waiting around for them to be finished. She would much rather be wondering around meeting people.
After Mae made the comment about the shoe's Kate blushed in embarrassment. How could she forget to do that. It was really confusing, some people wanted you to take your shoes off and others didn't. "Oh, I'm sorry." Kate replied before walking to the door, taking her shoes off, and returning. Thankfully she hadn't tracked in any gunk. Kate had a knack for staying clean. "This is a nice place you have, what do you do for a living?" Kate asked before any further awkwardness could ensue. Kate figured now was an okay time to proceed with conversing. I quiet guest would only make things more awkward.

Bobby nodded uncertainly not taking her guest's coat and hanging back as she observed. She wasn't exactly sure where to go from here, but her semi-blank expression hid her nerves from view quite well she supposed. She rattled her brain for something to say, reaching for many questions only to let them go. They seemed so stupid! Nothing she was coming up with didn't sound impersonal enough without sounding generic. Perhaps, she should just ask what she was doing here...
Kate spoke first, the words flowing from her mouth and smacking Bobby into attention. "Oh, uh, tha-thanks," she replied off guard. "I-I'm a bike messenger. I carry notes through places in the city. Think of a courier, I guess. I just don't have a car to get around with, but I have a ten-speed on lock-up downstairs for work." She sighed quietly, approaching the couch from around the table in front of it, sitting on the opposite side of the love-seat. "What about yourself? What do you do?"
Those red eyes were still throwing her off. Maybe she should ask about them later, but she didn't want to get too personal. What if it was birth defect? She didn't want to make the girl self-conscious.

Re: Unavoidable Suspicion
Kate thought that sounded like an easy job at least anywhere but a crowed city like this. She figured it must be hell navigating around. Kate was easily able to hear Mae sigh as she moved to sit down on the couch. The situation was finally improving. Kate had expected the question that Mae asked. Unfortunately the answer could alienate her further. She didn't feel like lying though it just wasn't a worthy thing to lie about. "I don't have a job. I just travel around greeting old friends and making new ones. I also love food so traveling around exposes me to many different interesting kinds." Kate responded.
Then something caught Kate's attention. What ever Mae might have said next Kate pushed to the back of her mind. She smelled someone familiar but who? It took Kate a while to figure it out. It was butters. The sheep god that just couldn't forgive and forget. He was one of the only gods Kate wished was dead. Sure she had eaten a lot of his fellow sheep but that's nature, a wolfs got to eat. He was lucky she didn't eat him. Kate wondered what he was up to this time. Her ears stoop up on end poking through her cloak hood as she turned her head to try to locate him. She wasn't too worried about Mae spotting that though. Kate was just over flowing with fortune, quite literally. Little did she know that Butters was currently disrupting that fortune. Mae would very easily notice the sudden emerging bumps.
Kate decided to ignore the annoying sheep and return her attention to her host. Her ears relaxed and the clearly defined triangular bumps disappeared and Kate turned her head back to face Mae. Kate acted as if nothing happened and if asked she had an excuse ready that is for the sudden distraction not for the bumps.

There was a definite pause after Kate spoke, her attention seeming to shift. She zoned out it seemed, and Bobby tried to speak to her. "Are you okay?" Had Bobby done something wrong? She couldn't be sure, but she did notice something... peculiar. The top of the woman's hood.. twitched. No, it more than just twitched. There were definite shapes beneath it, rising out and casting shadows, moving even. The ears went down and Kate's attention refocused onto Bobby, whose eyes were still on top of her head. They lingered, and Bobby felt bad staring but couldn't help it.
After all, she wasn't quite sure what to think about what she just saw. That was NO trick of the light.

Re: Unavoidable Suspicion
Kate saw Mae starring at the top of her head. Did she happen to really like design or perhaps she was lost in thought. No her face suggested....... no she couldn't have? How could she have noticed. Kate's power of fortune should have prevented that. Butters, she was going to eat that sheep, but that was for another time for now she had to figure out what to do with the present situation.
Kate had never run into a situation like this. People have discovered her before thousands of years ago, but never against Kate's will. There was no way she was going to be able to pull of a lie at least not a full blown one. Perhaps she could just tell the truth or at least reveal her oddities and make up a lie as to how she's like this. Experimentation is a believable one. Though illegal humans have the technology to create a human with wolf features.
Before a one could blink Kate had her response to the situation set. "Normally I am more careful. I'm sorry you had to see that. I did not wish to make the situation anymore awkward. If you ask I will show you. If you do not wish to know then we can forget this happened and I can leave as I have already caused you too much trouble and I doubt we could carry a normal conversation after this." Kate said in a very serious tone.

Re: Unavoidable Suspicion
Bobby realized what she had been doing this whole time when Kate started to speak again, her tone now much more serious as her gaze darted back to her face, looking into the deep crimson portals that peered at her with a sense of urgency. Despite this weirdness, she still didn't know what to do. She grabbed at her short hair unconsciously, missing it from it's change in length just a few weeks ago. A nervous habit that did not change with the style she had chosen. Some many thoughts bleed through her mind.
Freak out. Panic. Ask questions. Run. Faint. Breath. Scream. Of all these different urges and ideas raced through her mind, but while the confusion showed through she controlled it. She wasn't that judgmental, but shew as very, very surprised. "I-I'm not gonna make you leave," she stammered out. She was recovering quickly, as she was starting to put two and two together. Those were probably ears. Loony as it seemed, those were probably ears. Okay. Alright, relax. "So... those are... ears?" So much for not being any more awkward.

Re: Unavoidable Suspicion
- Kate's teeth:
Kate blinked a couple times in surprise in response to the girl saying she wouldn't kick Kate out. The level of open mindness she was portraying was more than Kate would have imagined. Kate was beginning to think that this would turn into a very enjoyable visit. She began to have hopes that she would make a friend who knew about the tails and ears. Though Kate hated this city she would probably dwell here often. It would be such a relief to have someone Kate could be herself around. Though Butters had planned to ruin Kate's day he may have actually made her life much better.
Kate was again surprised when Mae correctly deduced that they were ears she saw. The fact that the girl said that made Kate very happy as well as increase her hope. Kate couldn't help but give a wide toothy smile perhaps a bit too wide as it showed her some of her sharp teeth. Kate moved her hand up to her hood and slipped it off to show Mae she was right rather then tell her. The ears stood up into their normal position. They had fur the same color as her hair.
Kate was excited, her tail would be wagging back and forth if she wasn't sitting on it. Speaking of which she would wait to tell Mae she had a tail even though it was the thing Kate didn't want cooped up her cloak any longer. Mae already had a lot to process and telling of Kate's tail may be a bit too much at the moment. Kate supposed now would be a good time to tell her lie of why she was like this. "My family gave up for experimentation before I was technically born. Why I don't know. It could not have been money for my parents already had plenty of that. The decisions of royalty are beyond me, despite being their child. There are not around anymore though so I can't ask them why they did it. They didn't actually tell me what they had done till they were on their death bed." Kate said with a hint of sadness in her voice, executing the story flawlessly. The was a bit of truth in there. Kate was a goddess which put her above any kind or queen.

Re: Unavoidable Suspicion
As the ears were revealed, Bobby's eyes went wide. They were so... they... were ears. Wolf ears, protruding out of a human head. She didn't have ears on the sides of her head like one would expect, and the way they moved was twitchy and quick. They definitely weren't prosthetic. The same could be said for her teeth, clearly revealed as she spoke. For some reason, the story of Little Red Riding Hood came to mind.
My, what big teeth you have. And real teeth, too... They were very real, indeed. The realization that Bobby had thought did not negate the words and the sadness Kate bequeathed to the girl as it came upon in a great, spastic wave, and even though only a touch of depression dripped from her voice Bobby found herself wet from the words. She could understand the weight of the 'experience', and felt genuinely bad for Kate. A lie or not, the pity and sorrow that she felt was real. Even fake situations create emotions, and Bobby could feel a tangible feeling of shame. For judging, for even considering judging a person on appearance.
She briefly considered if people like her should wind up dead because of their own hubris, and a dark expression of extreme self-loathing appeared across her face.
"I'm so sorry..." It was all Bobby could really say. The guilt and shame built up in her stomach in a tight, heavy knot and she could feel herself wanting to wretch. The emotions were rancid and lively, twisting her insides up into a knot and placing a thick burn upon her heart. She had nothing more to say, nothing more to say. She was pro-women's rights, and as such decided a long time ago that they could do what they wanted with their bodies. But that was abortion... this was something far, far different. Was it okay? Could she forgive people who did this? Should she pity Kate, or call her brave? Her mind raged against her heart, and what she tried to imagine was beyond her fathoming.

Re: Unavoidable Suspicion
Kate was not surprised by Mae's own surprise. Knowing about something that is difficult to believe and sounds outrageous is much different then actually seeing it with your own eyes.
After Kate's explanation Mae's mood viable darkened. At least Kate knew this was from the story and not from her appearance. This was confirmed when Mae expressed her sympathies. "You need not worry. It is all that I have known and so does not seem as bad to me as it does to others. I do not consider my troubles to be any more than anyone else. We all have our problems and we all struggle to deal with them. It is really nice to have someone who knows my secret and for that I thank you." Kate said in a soothing tone. "You still do not know the full extent of my secret though." Kate teased before getting up and untying the string that kept her cloak on. The cloak then dropped and her fluffy tail whipped around in joy to be finally free of the the cloaks confines. She wore a purple, high grade 100% silk, shoulder less, and skin tight shirt. There were sleeves too but they were separate from the shirt. Below that she wore short shorts which were the standard blue of jeans. They were not so short that they didn't cover a portion on her thighs and in the back there was a hole just big enough for her tail to fit through. With her cloak now off Kate looked very stunning. Kate sat back down with her tail on her lap while she pet it. "Just as people love their hair I love my tail. To tell you truth if given the option of having a surgery that would make me a normal human I would decline."
