Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry] Empty Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry]

Post by Yzxstuhl Thu May 15, 2014 11:40 am

Rastlina, as many knew, was a planet with a rather strange cycle for day and night. Whereas a normal planet, such as almost any variation of Earth within the Omniverse would usually have one day and one night every twenty-four hours, It took in excess of 4320 hours for a complete day before switching to night; most likely, the result of a slowed or downright locked rotary axis, or some other form of cosmic-scaled magic. Nonetheless, the effects were blatantly obvious, as the nights of Rastlina became frigidly cold, essentially switching between autumn and winter, with perhaps the occasional spring.

This same problem was not experienced by Heithah Cincus Epsilae, part of a colossal cosmic structure, controlled by a being of considerable might. This location was nowhere near Rastlina; this setting occurs in an alternate dimension altogether. Or rather, a pocket universe, created by an unknown being now long-gone. Nonetheless, in the galaxy of Ebathakuhk, a plot was brewing. The grand controller of Heithah Cincus Epsilae had learnt of a secret kept from him, and had become enraged and obsessed by it. He had searched through his planetoid of a library, obtaining any and all references to teleportation, time-travel, and the likes. He'd even gone as far as to obtain a copy of a forbidden book, and refer to parts of it. And once he had gathered sufficient information, once he was sue he would not be required for awhile, he instructed his Authors to guard the library like never before, let none in, and informed his Recorder that none were to be allowed entry. And so, when none of his kin searched for him, he slipped away.

Snehovy went about it's business in it's usual manner for this time of year, and seemed rather peaceful; nothing extreme or dangerous had occurred during that 24-hour period, at least not yet. That was when it happened. With a thundering boom, and a blinding crack of light, a great portal opened up in the skies high above Snehovy. Where this portal lead too could not be seen, as a fierce orange light emanated from within the portal, preventing one from seeing past it. A single, humanoid figure, apparently unconscious, fell from this portal, his robes fluttering fiercely against the wind. After five seconds, he hit the snowy ground, the snow hopefully having softened his landing. He lay in the snow face-down, unresponding to any external stimulation; his robes were torn and grimy, his hair looked filthy, and in his right hand, with his arm stretched outwards, was a tattered and dusty old leather-bound book. Its surface was visibly originally black, and it appearaed to have once had a large symbol printed on the front, now long-faded to essentially nothingness. The portal, having deposited its payload, quickly shut, taking the fierce winds and howling noise with it.

(No references to time made; pick if it's day or night for me, i don't want to screw this up again Razz)

Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry] Empty Re: Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry]

Post by Riley Oran Sat May 17, 2014 12:48 am

They said that it was mad to travel at nighttime, but what about on it's verge? The day and night cycle on this planet was ridiculous. In fact, it was something that he had grown accustomed too as all natives had, but it was STILL ridiculous. Accustomed still didn't mean naturally suited to, either. Human beings had come from a planet where day and night defined their existence. They needed to see the light and dark to keep their bearings. Sure, he had gotten used to it. But Six, like many others, certainly didn't own it.

Here, in Snehovy, it was a cold time of year. It was a cold time of year because night was beginning to fall, and it had been for weeks. Snow had already graced the area, and the temperature was dropping steadily. The most dangerous plants would have to go dormant soon. They had no system to regulate their body heat. Nothing kept them warm, and even the cannibalistic plants just absorbed nutrients out of their prey in the end. They didn't have metabolisms like an animal might, after all. The danger did not come from those plants.

The danger came from the coldness, and the darkness and lived within those two things. While the sun had what seemed to be a day or more yet before it completely fell from the sky, it was still just barely visible from the horizon, even as Six traveled through the tree-tops bundled in his winterized attire. From this vantage point he could barely see it through his insulated goggles, but all the same the little light that it did cast served as a navigational tool. It reflected off of his old, gray jacket and white scarf-- items that would serve him well as camouflage in a cold environment.

His gloves gripped branches both thick and thin, delivering him from foothold to foothold in the great and tall trees. His insulated boots clunked against the platforms and notches he could manage to land upon, while his hair and face were covered buy layers of wrapped cloth to protect them from exposure. He looked like a mascot for a used clothing store and in truth a lot of his stuff was scavenged from the more unfortunate souls he'd encountered in his travels: the dead who didn't make it to the next town for one reason or another. Usually, the plants. But soon, it would be poor planning alone to fell them. That, and the nocturnal creatures.

For now though it was still safe to travel and even if it weren't, a courier needs to pay his bills. Six was no stranger to nighttime travel because to him it just required a little more planning than regular travel. The routes never changed. The paths didn't differ. Once in a blue moon the weather would be inclement enough to produce damage on more traveled areas, but even that was unlikely. Beyond the very few surprises, nothing actually ever went wrong for Six. Maybe that's why the next few minutes were such a shock.

Something appeared in the sky, like a second sun which was heralded by what could have only been a massive crack of thunder. Six stared into it, silently cursing what he believed to be a very unfair and untimely death, only to moments later watch in awe as something fell from the portal. A man. The great light had spat a man out and just as quickly as it had appeared pulled itself shut, leaving Six to watch the man fall from the sky. "Oh, shit," Six muttered to himself as he looked around, surveying his surroundings. If he was right, the sun was setting in another several hours. The plants wouldn't be too active-- time to explore, and if possible scavenge.

He traveled through the tree tops towards where the man fell for only a few minutes before reaching his destination, quickly attaching his rope to a tree branch an rappelling down it. As he landed, he checked the rope for it's tautness once again, confirming that his descent did not loosen it or otherwise compromise the branch. Having become comfortable with that he headed over towards the unconscious man, whom he had at this point presumed to be dead. He looked a mess for sure, and he could draw a few conclusions based on the man's appearance alone, but did not. His clothing was not very well suited for he winter here. It was just a simple cloak, but in his hand he clutched an old, dusty book. Six knelt down over the man's body, and extended a hand towards the tome...

Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry] Empty Re: Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry]

Even drained of most of its power, the book still felt dark and evil to the touch. Despite the outside of the book making it appear like some sort of printed and mass-produced book, the inside was identical to an average journal used by someone to keep track of their days. The writer seemed to be someone named "Therotras Fallodar," and it detailed his various day-to-day issues as he went about his life. According to the journal, he was formerly a stonemason, until he began working for someone named "Tykakoquth." After page twenty, however, the writing begins to change; some letters from words are replaced by strange, foreign symbols, with the frequency of the symbols increasing with each page, until on page thirty-four, all the writing has been done using these strange runes. Pages Thirty-Nine and Forty are inexplicably blank, with the next two pages likely stating why; 41 and 42 appears to be little more than crazed, insane scribbling and sketching, with letters randomly deviating between a readable language, the strange runes seen earlier, and a third unknown language.
(OOC: Page 41: https://2img.net/h/oi59.tinypic.com/2vb5sgp.jpg Page 42: https://i.imgur.com/waKCWos.jpg )

A faint twitch of the man's right hand, the one formerly holding the strange book, would notion that his life had not yet terminated. However, if he was left face-down in the snow for much longer, he would surely suffocate. Seeing as he was the original wielder of the book, he likely knew more about it's contents, if one was interested in finding out more.

Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry] Empty Re: Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry]

Six, as he reached his hand towards the book, suddenly felt the urge to stop. He couldn't place why, but he was overcome with a certain... feeling. See, six wasn't sensitive to spirits, or to energies or really anything of the sort. But the book's presence, as his hand reached towards it started to become simply overwhelming. He paused long enough to stare down at in contemplation that he noticed the man's hand twitch just slightly. He's alive? Six's hand moved to the man's back, shaking him as his palm came to rest between his shoulder blades.

"Hey," he called out. "Can you hear me?" His right hand slid down to the holster on his side, grasping the handle of his gun just in case he would need it. Honestly, it might not be a problem. The man had just crossed over from another plane of existence, and while Six may not have known it 'synchronization' would likely inhibit the man's power until the process was completed. All of this was above Six's scope, but even still from his perspective the man just fell several stories in to the snow.

With another shove, Six tried to roll the man over and take his face out of the snow so that he could breathe, and in doing so would probably make the man release the book that his unconscious form held.

The book slipped from the man's grasp, and was now lying in the snow in the same position and location it was in before.

The front side of the man was in a similar condition to the back, save for the presence of multiple bits of snow. The man didn't look very old; he was perhaps only nineteen or so years old. Despite the fall and blasting wind, his hair seemed smooth, likely combed and gelled to stay in place. Hs chest slowly rose and fell, confirming that he was alive, and after a few moments, his eyes began to flutter open. If nothing else, his eyes alone made his appearance as a human questionable, as the irises were an inhuman, vivid orange colour. He remained motionless for a few moments before sitting up, his face distorting in pain as he did so. He then looked at Six, albeit in a strange manner that made it seem his mind wasn't completely there, but it soon returned as his face showed the expression of frustration. "I'm in Ikathakeh, aren't I. Damn it, I was sure I'd cast that right!" he said angrily, both to Six and himself.

As the book flopped down in front of Six, he let his eyes dart from the man's youthful face to it's strange aura. Without much delay he grabbed it, no longer so concerned by the man's condition now that he knew he was alive. He flipped through the pages of the book, his eyes scanning it's contents for a clue. The beginning was normal... ish. It was in a language that Six believed was english. On that assumption, he understood a little bit. There was a name printed on the cover- at least he thought it was a name- that read "Theotras Fallador". It seemed to be a journal of some kind. A rather mundane one at that.

Flipping through the pages just a little further in, the letters were steadily becoming symbols. Coming upon what he believed to be the last pages filled (as they were blank) he stared at them for just a moment. Then, he noticed something on the last page of the book, but before he could examine that page the man whom he believed to be unconscious sat up. Six almost immediately pulled his gun on him, only refraining because the man seemed too perplexed and pained to be an actual threat. Holding the book in one hand he shut it, bringing it to his side.

The man spat something vaguely foriegn about a place called Ikathakeh, and Six's eyebrow went up. Admittedly, any expression he conveyed was covered by his attire, but his voice, even though it was muffled was clear enough at this distance. "This is right near Snehovy," Six replied gingerly, still unsure of whether to ask the man what he was on about or not, and instead just lead with, "do you need a medic? You fell out of the fucking sky."

The man's eyes widened when Six spoke; more so when he mentioned Snehovy, then asked if he needed a medic. "Snehovy? I have never heard of that place..." he said, wiping the snow from his face, then dusting as much as he could off his clothes. He had suddenly changed from speaking english, to fluently speaking the language that Six had just used. "And you clearly do not know who I am, if that is the question you ask me... Furthermore, this language is not used anywhere in Ebathakuhk..." A wide grin quickly spread across his face, and he jumped up. "It did work! I've passed through the time wall! Not even Tykakoquth can hold me back! You... tell me all you can. What is the name of this continent, this planet, this galaxy? I wish t-" he stopped when he saw that Six was holding the book he had come with. He extended his hand out to it, apparently attempting to levitate it into his hand. No matter how hard he tried, however, it did not work. When he realised this, the man brought his hand back to him, and examined them, as though they were new to him. "I'm... Mortal?!?" He said, the massive amount of shock he was experiencing evident in his voice.

Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry] Empty Re: Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry]

Post by Riley Oran Sun May 18, 2014 2:21 am

In a few seconds, the man immediately launched into an excited spiel. Was it something Six had said? At this point he wasn't even sure the man was completely sane anymore, because he proceeded to just spout off such random nonsense. He didn't know what Snehovy was? He was speaking like he was somebody important, and maybe he was. That didn't change the fact he fell from a glowing hole in the fucking sky, and it certainly didn't make Six less wary of him.

The sudden epiphany the man had immediately afterwards did not help matters. He leapt to his feet and shouted something about a Time Wall, and a tin foil hat briefly floated into Six's mind as the man continued to press himself at Six, asking such bizarre questions like what planet they were on. Was this for real? The implications of the portals true nature didn't escape Six, who's hand still tightly gripped the handle of his gun.

Then, mid-sentence the man just stopped speaking. He went from being excited to reaching his hand towards the book, and in a moment Six realized what he reached for. At this point, Six didn't really want to argue. The thought floated across his mind. This man is absolutely out of his gourd. A few moments of expectant staring later, the man withdrew the hand to his form and viewed both of his appendages intently. Then, the most damning evidence of this man being mad. To his apparent surprise, he described himself as mortal.

Six was tempted to state the obvious-- what else could the man be? Instead, being the natural diplomat that he was, he extended the book back towards the man. "I don't know what the fuck is going on," he said earnestly. "You fell out of the sky, and you seem to be a little off right now. We're not far from the city, and I can go with you to get you some medical help. Maybe you can get your head examined." He motioned towards the indention of the man's face in the snow. "You hit it really hard, I'd guess. The fall looked lethal from a distance."

Even as Six spoke, he couldn't look away from the man's eyes. They weren't normal. He wasn't going to say inhuman-- nanotechnology could do many things, so could implants or maybe it was just an evolutionary trait. Even still, they were rare to say the least. "What do you say?"

After a few more moments of flexing and observing his hands, the man looked back at Six. "I don't appreciate being called crazy. Qrysnyz, is crazy, as you... don't know him either, do you." He rubbed his eyes in frustration. To him it all made sense, but in this strange new place nothing he said had any real value. He had to get back down to basics; like back when he spoke with the stupid mortals for the first time. "Lead on, I've got no other option. My name's Yzxstuhl. Yee - Zick - Stool. I get frustrated when it's pronounced wrong. Who would you be?" He asked, his hands going to behind his back, ready to follow Six wherever he lead him. Try and fit in with the stupid mortals, they'll trust you more and tell you more. He thought to himself, his ripped and worn clothing and his stance looking quite odd considering the temperature.

Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry] Empty Re: Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry]

Post by Riley Oran Sun May 18, 2014 1:05 pm

As this progressed, it was only getting more awkward for Six. Why can't crazy people just know they're nuts? It would certainly make handling them more simple. Tip-toeing around a crazy stranger was not Six's wheelhouse. Then again, he was called a natural diplomat for a reason. The man tossed off another foriegn name before clutching his head, then all of a sudden he introduced himself. He sounded out his name, pretentious as the first of any city might speak to a lowly courier. If he really was important, he was nailing the aura.

"I'm Six," he replied to him. "Just Six. No first or last name. Just the number." He turned, and looked back over the trees. The fading sun in the distance reminded him that he had a day yet before things became too dangerous to have a tag-a-long. Luckily, Snehovy was only half-an-hour's journey from here on foot. "I can take you to Snehovy, but then we have to break apart. If we headed that direction," Six indicated the way towards Snehovy but pointed through the tree tops, "we could avoid the carnivorous plants in the area." He looked over the man's gear once again. He was hardly equipped to survive in a winterized environment, and definitely wouldn't be able to travel through the tops of the trees.

"Since I don't think you'd be able to make that journey, I'll have to lead you on foot." Six turned back around towards the tree-branch he'd descended from, pulling his gun fully from it's sheathe and firing at the branch above. No noise escaped from the silenced barrel, but the branch itself being small shattered easily. His rope came down as well, and the sudden break freed it from the tree. "We'll need to be quick. Are you disoriented or off-balance?" If the man was, Six would need a way to compensate.

Yzxstuhl nodded in understanding. "I don't feel unbalanced, but I'd say i'm disorientated as I've never been here before. Shouldn't hinder your progress though." He said, intently observing the tool Six had just used to destroy part of the branch. As soon as Six departed for the town, Yzxstuhl would follow as well as he mortally could. As they were traveling, a question popped into his head, and without hesitation, he asked it. "So what do you do for a living, Six?" he asked, continuing to follow but occasionally glancing at a plant he had never seen before.

Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry] Empty Re: Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry]

Post by Riley Oran Mon May 19, 2014 1:14 am

As Six lead the way, he could only sigh. He was a courier. A glorified mail man who traveled where others wouldn't, when others wouldn't. No, he wasn't trained to do much else other than survive and carry parcels. Upon his back was his pack, with a small box inside and note attached. He did not have the expertise to deal with nut-jobs who'd fallen from strange, orange globs in the sky. That was definitely not in his wheelhouse, but at the same time he couldn't do much about it. Six was not completely heartless, so he wasn't going to leave the deranged man on his own?

But was he really so deranged? Six wasn't even sure initially, but it was much easier to just say that the man was crazy than the other implication. In truth, there were several different things implied by his arrival, and they all had the same general connotation: this... "Stool" guy was not from this planet. Or this world. Of course, that would be absolutely insane, but how crazy really? Space travel had been a thing in days before he was even born but as he understood it, they traveled through ships and not... giant sky-holes.

As he lead the man he was dangerously lost in this thought, but a question snapped him out of it. "Hmm," Came Six's reply. It took him a moment to process the question, changing from one thought to the next as a train changes pathways. "I, uh... I'm a courier," he replied, the clothing piled on still muffling his voice. "A mailman," he simplified further. He looked over his shoulder at the man, looking at his clothing once more. "Aren't you cold? It's below freezing out here."

"I suppose I am, why?" Replied Yzxstuhl, not really being aware of the implications of such a feeling. He'd felt it before, but only on extremely rare occasions; if he had his powers still, he would simply not feel it. Even when he did, he suffered from no ill effects of it; his godhood meant he could not die.

At the reply Six provided to his question, Yzxstuhl nodded in understanding. "Couriers are the pinnacle of progress from where I come from. Without those like you, nothing would get done, nobody would be aware of anything. Well, except for beings like me. We're aware of most everything." He paused for a moment, remembering the couriers from his homeland. "Another question; why are you so sure that I am a madman? Do my claims really sound so outrageous as to make me seem insane? I mean, surely my arrival must suggest otherwise." He said, beginning to flex his right hand once again.

Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry] Empty Re: Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry]

Post by Riley Oran Mon May 19, 2014 2:19 am

Six shrugged. "Just asking," he clarified to the man. Was being cold really not the big a deal? Six looked down at his own clothing. No, he wasn't going to take any off, and due to a mishap before he had even gotten this far, he only had this set of clothing. He looked over to the man has he said more maddening things, though even if it was from a lunatic the paid compliment was nice. Six really did work hard. It was very rare that anybody other than a courier performed his tasks, and likely if another person tried they failed. Six really did function as an integral part of the world. Something he had been aware of, but never really acknowledged on a personal level.

Then, a golden hammer dropped and clanged as the man asked the key question. Why did Six think he was a madman? There certainly wasn't a reason to doubt everything he was saying. After all, given circumstances would surely allow for an exception in this case, and Six could be excused for suspending his disbelief. Maybe, in fact, it was because the implications brought were nerve-wracking if not downright terrifying. Yes, obviously they weren't alone in the Universe. But now...? Faced with that reality, Six could only write it off as madness, or risk succumbing to it himself. "To be honest," Six replied. "I know a lot of sane men. None of them ever fell from a hole in the sky. Or walked through the snow in clothes that offered barely any protection. Or tossed off difficult to pronounce names like I should be aware of what they are. You would be the first sane man I would have met that did that," he replied. "I don't think sanity accommodates for something so strange."

Yzxstuhl stopped for a moment, Six's response slapping him in the face as he remembered something. He himself shared this view, albeit not about a man who fell from the sky; rather, one of his own kin. "I suppose I cant disagree with you, since i've hold a similar belief about one of my own kin. Up until now, at least. He speaks of being much, much higher than anything we could possibly understand, called 'Writers' and that every moment that occurs is contained within a single 'Post.' I suppose if i'm to say that your logic is flawed, I myself would have to admit that my own is flawed." Having finished his lamentation, Yzxstuhl continued following Six, still thinking about the topic. Another question then popped into his head. "What do you believe it would take for me to prove my statements are true?"

Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry] Empty Re: Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry]

Post by Riley Oran Mon May 19, 2014 10:10 am

Six merely sighed. Was there a way to prove the man's words? Six couldn't even begin to understand whether there was or not. What could he ask him to do? The man hadn't actually said anything about capabilities, merely spouted off random nonsense about people and places that shouldn't have existed, couldn't have existed, and even if the man did fall from a portal in the sky probably did not. He compared Six's disbelief of him a kind of religious disbelief held by somebody he knew. Six didn't get the parallel-- he was either too self-involved or disinterested for it to not fly over his head.

"I don't know," he replied after a few moments of nothing but the crunch of snow beneath their feet.

Yzxstuhl shrugged at the reply. There was little he could do at this very moment, anyway; he didn't have access to his powers, but he could feel them slowly ebbing, just beyond his reach. They would come back, but only with time. Yzxstuhl remained quiet for a few more minutes, still observing the plants, before asking a new question. "Could you tell me of this place? I have never been here before and am intrigued as to the details." he said curiously.

Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry] Empty Re: Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry]

Six sighed, deciding to play along with the man for now. Trying to convince him he was insane didn't seem like it would work out (when would it ever?), so anything to make the passage of time less awkward would be welcome. "Well," Six started, almost in disbelief he was explaining this to an adult, "this is Snehovy. It's on the northern part of the planet," he explained. "Place is arctic. Even if the star wasn't about to go down for the night cycle, place is frigid normally. The plants here are slow moving even in the daylight. Come night time, they're barely an issue for the experienced," he assured.

"Side note: most of the plants are carnivorous," he tossed off the fact casually to the man, noting that he had been examining them somewhat closely, "just a heads up." He pointed towards a city that they were approaching. They were still a good fifteen minutes away at his count, but the city was visible nonetheless. "Snehovy itself is a nice city, but the people are a bit inclusive. Some might say racist, but I hardly think that's the case. They don't treat visitors like second-class citizens. They just don't like other people. I think somebody said something about them being the ultimate race once." He chuckled. "You'd think they'd have solved the plant problem by now, if that were the case."

Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry] Empty Re: Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry]

Yzxstuhl nodded in understanding, observing the now visible town. He began staying a little more distant from the plants, but his observations of them didn't change. The word 'racism' reminded him of one of the species back in his home realm, the Ogruss Grougg. They may have looked stupid, but Yzxstuhl had obtained quite a lot of tactical knowledge from them.

His chain of thought returned to the town of Snehovy, and he noted how Six had mentioned the town. He probably wasn't from Snehovy by the way he referred to the inhabitants, as he would have said 'we' instead of 'they.' "Are there any other notable cities on this continent? Or is Snehovy the only one?" he asked, still wishing to know more.

"Right idea, but wrong question. There is only a single continent on this planet," Six corrected him. "It covers the whole thing, basically, except for a few spots where the underground water springs to the surface. The cities are relatively far apart, though. Aside from Snehovy, there are three others, and usually only one on each end of the planet. It's a bitch to travel between them too, let me assure you," the courier sighed. Thankfully, vehicles were not totally impossible to obtain. Just, there was hardly any gas on the planet. Using them was really, really rare. "We just have to be clever in our travels. That's why there are so many couriers, too. That way mail gets where it's going, and it doesn't stay clogged for long."

He sighed. "I've been on my way up here for about a year now. It's been a hell of a walk."

Yzxstuhl's facial expression was a mix between 'thats rather interesting' and 'your doing pretty well' from Six's response. "Where I come from, the main planet we deal with - Bathemu Primas, it's called - has five continents. Empirasis, Ikathakeh, Ozu, Keilacor, and Amerykah. Information's a bit slow to get around the Empire due to the oceans, but not as slow as it is here. I take it advancements in technology is slow?" he said. He was genuinely impressed by Six's endurance, as he didn't know of many mortals that would walk for years on end for a job. Maybe perhaps Jegtahihwuh's champion.

Six nodded in confirmation of the man's assessment of the world's technological state. He largely ignored the man's ramblings concerning another world. "That's not to say there was a time we struggled with technology," he began. "From what I've been told, this planet began as a prison for another planet once. A very advanced planet too, since apparently they could travel through space. I mean, we have evidence of the technology lying around in some cities, it's just not functioning for one reason or another. Hell, if we got some of it to work, I might never need to walk around these damn plants again." He cast a weary glance as the snow-covered plants, observing them. While most of them seemed innocuous as one might expect, he could swear a few were following them. It was mostly his imagination to be truthful, but being paranoid paid off on Rastlina in spades at all the right times.

Yzxstuhl was intrigued by this. He'd been able to travel through space on his own, so that wasn't much of a big deal for him; using technology though, he hadn't done, so that much was surprising for him. Still, he had seen some significant technology from his realm, so perhaps they were similar? "Perhaps I could take a look at it? I might be able to help, but I cannot guarantee success." He said.
Had Six turned back, he might have noticed that Yzxstuhl's clothes didn't look as damaged as they had when they had first met; they seemed to be regenerating. A similar occurrence was happening with the book, with a single, large symbol beginning to appear on the front. The shape could not yet be discerned, however it appeared to be coloured orange.

Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry] Empty Re: Gateway to the Forgotten Realm. [Retry]

Six did not look back at the man, his gaze fixed steadily on the city in the distance. Maybe in ten minutes, maybe in a little less, they'd arrive in Snehovy. Oh joy, he thought to himself. Maybe this time they won't brandish the guns, he pondered. He wasn't too worried, regardless. It was a show put on to make people that passed through worry. At least, it was that way a few years ago when Six last passed through here. They gave him a hell of a hard time, even after he said he was a courier and simply delivering some letters.

"Who in the other cities would want to contact anybody in Snehovy," they asked somewhat rhetorically. As that tense situation unfolded, Six found himself asking the exact same question. No, the people of Snehovy weren't necessarily racist by his definition. However they were supremacist, and they were picks, by and large. Not all of them were afflicted which suc poor attitudes, but the population was rather dense with jerks of all strips. Remembering his last trip made him cringe somewhat, not because he didn't want to return but because he doubted going through the same thing twice would make him more predisposed towards tolerating it. Like being shot in the arm, and then shot again just a year later. It still fucking hurts.

"Maybe," Six responded to the man's question. "Ask them if they have something when we get there, I guess." In truth, Six was at least a little curious to see if the man would actually be able to repair some of that tech, if it were there. "I'm not saying that it would make your stories more believable," he added, "but it would certainly let me take you at your word much easier. You'd basically have to at the very least be from off-world to get any of that stuff to work. Nobody around here can."

Yzxstuhl grinned, finally making progress with getting Six to trust him. Plus, perhaps the technology would allow him to regain his previous powers which he had, thus far, lost. Despite this, he couldn't help but feel like something was wrong. "Speaking of which, what is the name of this world?" He asked, pulling his foot out from a hidden ditch in the snow.
