The Tropes Challenge #1

Consider this a community building exercise.

What happens here is that we start with a single trope, from tvtropes. I'll post it in this post. What happens afterwards is that you guys will have to post related tropes. After every trope you find, you provide the link and brief description of the trope, as well as why it's relevant to the main one. The next time we do this, we take the last trope that was posted in this game and repeat the process, treating that one as the main one.

Sound good? Of course it does.

The first trope? The Knight Templar. Now for a brief description:

Imagine a person who believed fully and without any room for reason that they were the good guy. Now, imagine an extremist that used a perceived moral high-ground to mete out terrible punishments to "wrongdoers". Now combine the two. The Knight Templar is utterly terrifying as a character because of what they believe they represent. Usually Lawful, they assail people for simple crimes and punish most everything the same manner one might a capitol offense. Totally unreasonable and completely unable to be treatied with by one who would be considered a criminal by them (almost everybody), the Knight Templar has left a lasting impression in various works of a fiction, and continues to be used today throughout various media.

He Who Fights Monsters.

Basically, a person who has had some horrible thing happened to them, and they believe that the law does not sufficiently make up for what happened, like those who have lost a family member to someone who has been imprisoned for only 3-4 years or so. However, He Who Fights Monsters takes this a step further, and completely goes after whoever/whatever did them wrong, hunting them to the ends of the earth. This usually results in the stupid idiot coming up with garbage excuses as to why he's doing it, (It's not revenge, It's justice; I mean come on, it's obvious its freakin' revenge,) and usually ends up turning into a being not unlike the very person they're hunting, as they may resort to killing people to gain information to the enemies whereabouts.

Linked to the Knight Templar in the fact that they're both stupidly narrow-minded, cause more trouble than good, and end up becoming part of the evil they fight against.

Come on; Extremist Tropes?

Most often a villain; Said villain usually has a good idea/excuse for what he is doing, to which some heroes can agree to. Of course; said villain is willing to go lengths in order to achieve his dream/vision, to the point of discarding everything and everyone in his climb to his goal. Often originally a hopeful person, the world and life had eventually corrupted him to this state.

Linked to Knight Templar and He Who Fights Monsters because they are both extremists that will literally stoop to levels unheard of to get to their goals.
